Alizadeh RF, et al. - This work was carried out to determine the incidence and outcome of venous thromboembolism (VTE) among different laparoscopic abdominal surgical operations for benign diseases. Findings revealed higher risk for VTE development among laparoscopic colorectal operations for benign disease in comparison to other laparoscopic abdominal operations. Authors suggested performing further studies to elucidate the underlying mechanisms for this finding.
