Vascular thrombosis in pediatric kidney transplantation: Graft survival is possible with adequate management
Journal of Pediatric Urology Apr 04, 2018
Gander R, et al. - The researchers analyzed their experience in diagnosis and treatment of vascular thrombosis (VT) in pediatric kidney transplantation (KT) and the impact of a new management protocol (a protocol of prevention and early detection of VT) on patient outcome. They recognized that graft loss could be prevented with increased awareness and the application of a protocol for prevention, detection, and treatment of VT in pediatric KT. After diagnosis, immediate surgical intervention seemed mandatory. Graft survival could be improved by avoiding compartment syndrome with delayed sequential closure.
