Variations in mechanisms of injury for children with concussion

The Journal of Pediatrics Apr 09, 2018

Haarbauer-Krupa J, et al. - This trial examined the incidence of different injury mechanisms and activities among Researchers found that most of the concussions in children older than 6 years of age were sports-related. Nonetheless, around 30% of concussions appeared to be from non–sports-related activities, like falls and being struck by an object. While more children are participating in community and organized sports activities, there should be more focus on prevention efforts in other activities where concussions occurred.
