Variation in global DNA hydroxymethylation with age associated with schizophrenia

Jiang T, et al. – The prime focus of this research was to improve understanding of DNA hydroxymethylation (5hmC) and methylation (5mC) in the development of schizophrenia. The present data indicated that the 5hmC level demonstrated a positive correlation with age in the controls however a negative correlation in the patients with schizophrenia. The authors also found aberrant DNA modifications in patients with schizophrenia.
