Variables associated with stability after Le Fort I osteotomy for skeletal class III malocclusion
International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Mar 04, 2021
Lee CC, Xhori O, Tannyhill RJ, et al. - Researchers conducted this retrospective cohort study to evaluate skeletal stability and predictors of relapse in patients undergoing an isolated Le Fort I osteotomy. The sample consisted of 92 patients undergoing Le Fort I osteotomy for Class III malocclusion. Due to dental compensation, no patients needed reoperation for relapse as overbite and overjet remained in an acceptable range. This research indicates that isolated Le Fort I osteotomy for skeletal Class III malocclusion correction is a stable procedure and that greater advancement is an independent risk factor for sagittal relapse.
