Variability of the Ki-67 proliferation index in gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms - A single-center retrospective study
BMC Endocrine Disorders Aug 02, 2018
Shi H, et al. - Researchers conducted a single-center retrospective study to assess changes in Ki-67 levels throughout the disease course of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP-NENs), and examine the role of Ki-67 index variability in GEP-NENs. For this investigation, they assessed specimens with multiple pathologies from 30 subjects who were chosen from 514 subjects with GEP-NENs treated at Wuhan Union Hospital from July 2009 to February 2018. Findings demonstrated that poorer prognosis was found in patients with GEP-NENs and Ki-67 variability. In assessing the prognosis of patients with GEP-NENs, re-assessing Ki-67 at sites of metastasis or during the course of the disease could play a role and impact how GEP-NENs are monitored and treated.
