Validity of endoscopic features for the diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection status based on the Kyoto classification of gastritis
Digestive Endoscopy Oct 03, 2019
Yoshii S, Mabe K, Watano K, et al. - A total of 498 individuals were enrolled in this prospective study in order to ascertain the benefits of the Kyoto classification of gastritis for diagnosing Helicobacter pylori infection status by endoscopy. For the regular arrangement of collecting venule, fundic gland polyp, and red streak, significantly greater diagnostic odds were obtained in individuals with non-infection, map-like redness in individuals with preceding infection, and diffuse redness, mucosal swelling, sticky mucus and enlarged fold in individuals with prevailing infection. Thus, the Kyoto classification of gastritis was concluded as beneficial for diagnosing H. pylori infection status on the basis of endoscopic verdicts. Furthermore, this prediction model could be useful for amateur endoscopists.
