Validity and reliability of the Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Score with C-reactive protein (ASDAS-CRP) and Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) in Singapore
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Nov 25, 2019
Kwan YH, Tan JJ, Phang JK, et al. - Cross-sectional data from 280 people with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) from a dedicated axSpA clinic in a Singapore tertiary referral hospital from 2011 to 2019 were utilized in order to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Score with C-reactive protein (ASDAS-CRP) and Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) in people with axSpA in Singapore. Among 280 persons, poor internal consistency was exhibited by ASDAS-CRP, whilst high internal consistency was shown by BASDAI. When ASDAS-CRP and BASDAI were contrasted with other patient-reported outcomes measures, convergent and divergent construct efficacy was defined by the achievement of 11 out of 12 a priori hypothesis. Thus, in measuring disease activity in persons with axSpA in Singapore, this study encourages the use of both ASDAS-CRP and BASDAI.
