Ottoy J, et al. - In order to evaluate cross-sectional differences in plaque load, the clinicians validated the SUV ratio (SUVR) method against the gold standard volume of distribution (V_T). They revealed that increased brain uptake of ¹⁸F-AV45 evaluated by the simplified static SUVR protocol did not truly reflect Aβ load. However, compared to SUVR calculated using cerebellar gray matter (SUVR_CB), the SUVR calculated using whole subcortical white matter (SUVR_WM) was better associated with V_T and more closely reflected V_T differences between amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD).
