BMJ Open Aug 18, 2017

The intent was to identify people with asthma in the United Kingdom Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD). The findings revealed that people with asthma could be detected accurately from UK primary care records using specific Read codes. It was noted that the inclusion of spirometry or asthma medications in the algorithm did not clearly improve accuracy.
