Dogan M, et al. - Researchers assessed prestin as a biomarker for the identification of early ototoxicity. Findings suggested an association of higher doses of cisplatin and amikacin with the greatest increases in serum prestin level and cochlear damage score. For cochlear damage, prestin is a promising early indicator. Significantly higher cochlear damage scores were seen in the low-dose (LAG), high-dose (HAG), low-dose (LCIS) and high-dose (HCIS) groups than the control group.
