Utilizing intravascular ultrasound imaging prior to treatment of severely calcified coronary lesions with orbital atherectomy: An ORBIT II sub-analysis
Journal of Interventional Cardiology Aug 31, 2017
Shlofmitz E, et al. – This study compared the clinical outcomes between patients who underwent lesion assessment with either intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) or angiography alone prior to orbital atherectomy (OA) for severely calcified coronary lesions. Use of IVUS for assessing the degree of lesion calcification prior to OA was associated with significantly fewer stents placement, increased post–OA minimal lumen diameter (MLD), and similar 3–year major adverse cardiac events (MACE) outcomes, compared to angiographic assessment of the degree of lesion calcification.
