Utilization of hospice services in a population of patients with Huntington's Disease
Journal of Pain and Symptom Management Sep 20, 2017
Johnson MO, et al. - This retrospective cohort study aims to elucidate the characteristics of patients with Huntington's Disease (HD) who enrolled in hospice. Compared to other patients (57 vs. 76 years old), patients with HD are admitted to hospice at a younger age but have a significant symptom burden and limited functional status. Only a minority of these patients are able to die at home although hospice care emphasizes the importance of helping patients to remain in their homes.
