Utility of inflammatory marker- and nutritional status-based prognostic factors for predicting the prognosis of stage IV gastric cancer patients undergoing non-curative surgery
Anticancer Research Aug 12, 2017
Mimatsu K, et al.  Analysts compared the utility of various inflammatory marker and nutritional statusÂbased prognostic factors, including many previous established prognostic factors, for predicting the prognosis of stage IV gastric cancer patients undergoing nonÂcurative surgery. As compared to PNI, NLR, PLR and CONUT, the mGPS was a more useful prognostic factor in patients undergoing nonÂcurative surgery for stage IV gastric cancer.
Methods
- They incorporated 33 patients with stage IV gastric cancer who had undergone palliative gastrectomy and gastrojejunostomy in the study.
- In order to assess the relationships between the mGPS, PNI, NLR, PLR, the CONUT, various clinicopathological factors and cancer-specific survival (CS) univariate and multivariate analyses were performed.
Results
- Chemotherapy, mGPS and NLR were the risk factors determined by univariate analysis of CS among patients who received non-curative surgery.
- An independent association of mGPS and CS was unearthed by and multivariate analysis.
