Uterine transplantation: A survey of physicians perceptions and attitudes
Fertility and Sterility Sep 09, 2017
Bortoletto P, et al. - This study is performed to ascertain whether reproductive endocrinologists and gynecologic surgeons support uterine transplantation (UT) as an ethical treatment option for patients with uterine factor infertility. The greater part of gynecologists surveyed observes uterine transplantation to be an acceptable and ethical alternative for patients with uterine factor infertility. In any case, there are significant concerns in regards to risk to donors, recipients, and resulting infants, all contributing to only a minority suggesting it as a therapeutic option. Successful replication of the Swedish experience with UT is likely to contribute to greater clinical acceptance.
