Uterine papillary serous carcinoma arising in a polyp: A multicenter retrospective analysis on 75 patients
American Journal of Clinical Oncology May 01, 2019
Mandato VD, et al. - From the 2003-2013 database of 7 Italian Gynecologic Oncology Centers, researchers identified patients with uterine papillary serous carcinoma arising in a polyp and who had undergone a hysterectomy in order to evaluate whether Italian Oncologic Centers are uniformly following the international recommendations on the management of uterine papillary serous carcinoma arising in a polyp. In addition, they examined if the strategy adopted is effective. The inclusion criteria were met by a total of 75 patients. Observations revealed that in daily practice, the international recommendations on the management of uterine papillary serous carcinoma are not uniformly followed. However, they noted lower recurrence rates also when uterine papillary serous carcinoma is confined to a polyp or endometrial surface in correlation to the extension of the surgery.
