New England Journal of Medicine Aug 08, 2020
Manyonda I, Belli AM, Lumsden MA, et al. - Via performing a multicenter, randomized, open-label trial, researchers here evaluated myomectomy vs uterine-artery embolization in women who had symptomatic uterine fibroids and did not wish to undergo hysterectomy. They recruited a total of 254 women at 29 hospitals in the United Kingdom and randomly assigned them to either of the following groups: 127 to the myomectomy group (of whom 105 underwent myomectomy) and 127 to the uterine-artery embolization group (of whom 98 underwent embolization). Outcomes revealed better fibroid-related quality of life at 2 years in those who underwent myomectomy vs those who underwent uterine-artery embolization among women with symptomatic uterine fibroids, .
