Usefulness of the addition of renal function to the CHA2DS2-VASc score as a predictor of thromboembolism and mortality in patients without atrial fibrillation
The American Journal of Cardiology May 20, 2018
Parsons C, et al. - In patients without atrial fibrillation, researchers investigated if adding renal impairment (1 point) to the CHA2DS2-VASc score (-R) improves the score's prediction of mortality, thromboembolism, and atrial fibrillation. This study included patients that had an implantable cardiac monitoring device placed between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2013. Participants were followed through March 7, 2016. In this retrospective analysis using the Rochester Epidemiology Project medical records system, a mild incremental benefit of adding renal impairment to the CHA2DS2-VASc score was reflected by an observed improvement in the score's prediction of thromboembolism and mortality in patients without atrial fibrillation.
