Usefulness of plasma D-dimer level for monitoring development of distant organ metastasis in colorectal cancer patients after curative resection
Cancer Management and Research Oct 12, 2018
Guo Y, et al. - In colorectal cancer (CRC) patients following curative resection, researchers examined if plasma D-dimer level may be useful for monitoring the development of distant organ metastasis by analyzing data of 178 CRC patients following curative resection. Compared to non-metastasis patients, the level of D-dimer in CRC patients with metachronous metastasis was higher. In CRC patients following curative resection, combining D-dimer with carcinoembryonic antigen and/or lactate dehydrogenase, could be a valuable surveillance marker for distant organ metastasis.
