Fitzpatrick JK, et al. - In order to detect the elevated left ventricular (LV) mass, researchers sought to examine the use of the epicardial area in the short axis in men enrolled in the Mind Your Heart Study. Data exhibited that epicardial area served as a promising method of rapid screening for LV hypertrophy. It could also be used for validating formal LV mass calculations.
