Usefulness of composite indices in the assessment of joint involvement in systemic lupus erythematosus patients: Correlation with an ultrasonographic score
Lupus Feb 16, 2019
Ceccarelli F, et al. - Researchers assessed the data to analyze the correlation between composite indices and ultrasonography (US) inflammatory status. They estimated organ-specific composite indices, i.e. the Disease Activity Score on 28 joints (DAS28), Simplified Disease Activity Index (SDAI), Clinical Disease Activity Index (CDAI), and the ratio of swollen to tender joints (STR). They applied the SLE Disease Activity Index 2000 (SLEDAI-2k) to judge global disease activity. They observed a positive relationship between US score and DAS28-CRP, STR, SDAI, CDAI. They also noticed that the US score reflected various levels of clinimetric joint activity.
