Jeevarethinam A, et al. - In search of carotid parameters predictive of cardiovascular events in patients with asymptomatic type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), researchers identified carotid plaque as a strong predictor of future cardiovascular events and a possible prognostic marker in asymptomatic patients with type 2 DM. They also observed the independent association of carotid plaque and maximal IMT with obstructive coronary artery disease.
