Use of topical anti‐inflammatory and antineoplastic agents in the treatment of young‐aged actinic cheilitis: A systematic review
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Apr 06, 2021
Medeiros CKS, de França GM, da Cruz Lima JG, et al. - In this systematic review, researchers tested the efficacy of topical anti-inflammatory and antineoplastic agents in the treatment of actinic cheilitis (AC), an inflammatory condition of the lip caused by exposure to ultraviolet radiation from sunlight, in terms of lesion remission and adverse effects. Eight clinical trials were chosen, including four that examined the use of anti‐inflammatory drugs and four use of antineoplastic agents. The anti‐inflammatory and antineoplastic agents studied produced largely positive clinical outcomes, including evidence of remission of AC lesions, the development of few local adverse reactions during treatment, and good patient adherence.
