Use of the vestibular and oculomotor examination for concussion in a Pediatric Emergency Department
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Sep 09, 2018
Corwin DJ, et al. - Concussion guidelines recommend performing a vestibular and oculomotor (VOM) examination on all patients who may have concussion, so researchers measured the rates at which the exam is performed after training and support tools were implemented in a pediatric emergency department. Observations suggest that in the acute setting, performing a VOM examination for concussion is feasible after provider education and with clinical support tools. The exam is more frequently performed on children with history or exam findings that reveal perceived risk for ongoing symptoms.
