Use of the Hemangioma Severity Scale to facilitate treatment decisions for infantile hemangiomas
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Aug 18, 2017
Moyakine AV, et al. – A comparison was pursued of the Hemangioma Severity Scale (HSS) scores between patients with infantile hemangiomas (IH) for whom propranolol treatment was indicated at their first visit and those who were not treated. The suitable cutoff values for the need of propranolol treatment was also inspected in this trial. It was determined that the HSS with cutoff values of 6 or lower and 11 or higher could be used as a triage tool for propranolol therapy. Patient age, IH type, and parental preference could contribute towards the treatment decisions.
