Freedman RA et al. -The clinical value of annual surveillance mammography in elderly breast cancer survivors with limited life expectancy has not been established. In the current study it was shown that 57% of elderly breast cancer survivors with an estimated life expectancy less than 5 years participate in annual surveillance mammography, whereas 14% of elderly breast cancer survivors with a life expectancy greater than 10 years did not participate in annual surveillance mammography.
