Henckaerts L, et al. - A prospective study of 99 patients is carried out to investigate the utilization of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography in the diagnosis of polymyalgia rheumatica. The outcome of this study suggests that the 18F-FDG-PET before starting glucocorticoid therapy improves the diagnostic accuracy compared with a clinical scoring system in patients with clinical suspicion of polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR).
