Use of intraoperative negative margins reduces inverted papilloma recurrence
The American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy Jan 20, 2018
Miglani A, et al. - An investigation was pursued of the benefits of intraoperative frozen section histopathology (IFSH) for inverted papilloma (IP) resection. Researchers also gauged the reliability of IFSH. It was inferred that positive IFSH results resulted in increased resection in 27% of the patients, displaying a 0% recurrence rate in the study group. High reliability of IFSH for IP was brought to light during this trial. None of the patients reported IP recurrence at a mean follow-up of 3.3 years. Findings illustrated that IFSH could aid in reducing the recurrence rates of IP.
