Use of contraception among U.S. women reporting postpartum depressive symptoms, pregnancy risk assessment monitoring system 2009-2011

Contraception Sep 29, 2017

Lawley ME, et al. - This study aimed to ascertain the prevalence of postpartum contraceptive use among women with postpartum depressive symptoms (PDS) and inspect the relationship amongst PDS and contraceptive method. The outcome of this study suggests that the larger percentages of women with and without PDS used user-dependent or no contraception. Since depression may be related to misuse of user-dependent methods, counseling women about how to use methods more effectively, and also the efficacy of non-user dependent methods, may be beneficial.
