Use of aspirin, other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and acetaminophen and risk of endometrial cancer: The Epidemiology of Endometrial Cancer Consortium
Annals of Oncology Mar 07, 2019
Webb PM, et al. - Researchers examined the link between the use of aspirin and the risk of endometrial cancer by pooling individual-level data from seven cohort and five case-control studies in the Epidemiology of Endometrial Cancer Consortium; 7,120 women with endometrial cancer and 16,069 controls were included. They computed study-specific odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals. Findings revealed that risk of endometrial cancer among overweight and obese women could be attenuated with the use of standard-dose aspirin or other non-aspirin nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs); a nearly 15% attenuated risk was noted in relation to at least weekly use of aspirin and NSAIDs in both overweight and obese women. Acetaminophen was not clearly correlated with risk.
