Use, applicability and reliability of depth of hypnosis monitors in children - a survey among members of the European Society for Paediatric Anaesthesiology
BMC Anesthesiology Apr 21, 2018
Cheung YM, et al. - An online survey was conducted to assess the thoughts of practicing anaesthesiologists ie, the Members of the European Society for Paediatric Anaesthesiology regarding the use of depth of hypnosis monitors in children. The most important reason to use hypnosis monitoring in children was discovered to be the prevention of intraoperative awareness. In children > 4 years vs in younger children, more frequent use of hypnosis monitoring was noted. Hypnosis monitoring lacked reliability in children and this was identified as the most important reasons not to use it in children. No consensus currently exists on how to adjust anaesthesia according to hypnosis monitor index values in children.
