Urolithiasis is associated with an increased risk of stroke: A population-based 5-year follow-up study
Internal Medicine Journal Apr 14, 2018
Chou PS, et al. - Authors probed into the correlation between urolithiasis and longitudinal risks of ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke using a nationwide population database. It was discovered that the risk of both ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke remained significant in the urolithiasis cohort, especially among those older than 40 years. The risk of stroke appeared to be prominent in both men and women. Findings illustrated that middle-aged (40–59 years) and older (≥60 years; adjusted HR = 1.14; 95% CI = 1.03–1.27) patients were particularly at a high risk of stroke.
