Urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR), tissue factor (TF) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR): Tumor expression patterns and prognostic value in oral cancer
BMC Cancer Aug 30, 2017
Christensen A, et al. – This research work explored the expression patterns of urokinase–type Plasminogen Activator Receptor (uPAR), Tissue Factor (TF) and Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) and their potential prognostic value in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Investigations indicated that uPAR and TF could potentially be attractive targets for molecular imaging and therapy in OSCC due to high positive expression rates and tumor–specific expression patterns. Moreover, high uPAR expression was significantly associated with a reduced survival. Hence, uPAR appeared to be a prognostic biomarker in oral cancer.
