Urinary sediment CCL5 mRNA as a potential prognostic biomarker of diabetic nephropathy
Clinical Kidney Journal Oct 01, 2021
Feng ST, Yang Y, Yang JF, et al. - Findings demonstrate upregulation of urinary sediment CCL5 and CXCL1 mRNAs in patients suffering from diabetic nephropathy (DN), as well as showed an association of urinary sediment CCL5 and CXCL1 mRNAs with decline in renal function and degree of renal interstitial fibrosis. Urinary sediment CCL5 mRNA may afford a potential prognostic biomarker of DN.
This study was done to unveil targeted urinary mRNAs in DN based on bioinformatics analysis and clinical validation.
According to bioinformatics analysis, the following 4 chemokines as candidate mRNAs were negatively correlated with eGFR: CCL5, CXCL1, CXLC6 and CXCL12.
There were negative correlations between urinary sediment mRNA of CXCL1 and eGFR and between CCL5 level and eGFR, however, CCL5 level was positively correlated with uACR.
ESRD was independently predicted by urinary sediment CCL5 mRNA (HR 1.350).
