Srivastava A, et al. - This prospective observational cohort study was undertaken to investigate if uric acid concentrations are related to kidney failure and death in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. In earlier stages of CKD, uric acid concentration independently conferred risk for kidney failure. Furthermore, a J-shaped association of uric acid concentration with all-cause mortality was evident in CKD.
