Upper limb lymphedema in breast cancer patients in the era of Z0011, sentinel lymph node biopsy and breast conservation
Irish Journal of Medical Science Aug 19, 2017
Bhatt NR, et al. – Study authors carried out this investigation to examine changes in lymphedema referral patterns in breast cancer (BCa) patients over the last three years in a specialist unit and to elucidate impacts of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB), breast–conserving surgery (BCS), and Z0011 trial publication on such patterns. The results seemed to suggest that the Z0011 trial in association with wider implementation of SLNB has led to significant changes in the lymphedema referral patterns and extent of axillary lymph node dissection (ALND).
