Cheraghlou S, et al. - This study outlined the natural history and factors associated with treatment refusal in untreated oral cavity cancer. Although the natural course of oral cavity cancer carries a poor prognosis, there were a number of patients with longer-than-expected survival. The survival estimates might offer supplemental information for patients deciding whether to pursue treatment. Moreover, factors like age, the extent of disease, insurance status and facility case volume were associated with a patient's likelihood of refusing treatment.
