Unfavourable outcome in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage WFNS grade I
World Neurosurgery Jul 05, 2018
Zijlmans JL, et al. - Researchers assessed the actual clinical outcome of World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) grade I aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) patients and assessed factors linked with unfavorable outcomes. They conducted a prospective cohort study with 132 consecutive patients (≥ 18 years old) with a WFNS grade I aSAH admitted to their hospital between December 2011 and January 2016. Ultimately, one out of five WFNS grade I aSAH patients has an unfavorable clinical outcome or is dead at six months’ follow-up, despite a neurologically optimal clinical condition upon admission. Age, delayed cerebral ischemia, pneumonia, and meningitis were the factors associated with unfavorable outcome.
