Ultrasound-guided unilateral transversus abdominis plane combined with rectus sheath block vs subarachnoid anesthesia in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis catheter surgery: A randomized prospective controlled trial
Journal of Pain Research Sep 17, 2020
Li J, Guo W, Zhao W, et al. - In this study, the transversus abdominis plane (TAP) + rectus sheath (RS) block was compared with subarachnoid anesthesia (SA) for patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis catheter placement. Researchers randomly classified a total of 60 individuals into two groups, with 30 receiving unilateral ultrasound-guided TAP + RS block anesthesia and 30 receiving SA. The researchers examined demographic characteristics, anesthesia efficacy, indicators related to anesthesia or operation, hemodynamic index, postoperative pain numeric rating score (NRS), postoperative recovery indicators, complications related to anesthesia or surgery, and dosage of sedative or analgesic medication. In peritoneal dialysis catheter placement, the TAP + RS block was found to be a safe, effective method for use as the principal anesthesia technique. It has the advantages of less influence on hemodynamics and a better postoperative analgesic effect in comparison with SA.
