Ultrasound-guided bilateral superficial cervical block and preemptive single-dose oral tizanidine for post-thyroidectomy pain: A randomized-controlled double-blind study
Journal of Anesthesia Feb 24, 2018
Ahiskalioglu A, et al. - The analgesic impact of combined use of bilateral superficial cervical plexus block (BSCPB) and a single-dose oral tizanidine was assessed in patients undergoing elective thyroid surgery. Effectively reduced postoperative pain and opioid consumption were noted among those who received ultrasound-guided BSCPB with or without preemptive oral tizanidine while undergoing total thyroidectomy. Reduction in early postoperative opioid consumption, posterior neck pain, and occipital headache was noted as a result of adding preemptive oral tizanidine to BSCPB.
