Ultrasonography for the confirmation of endotracheal tube intubation: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Annals of Emergency Medicine Aug 21, 2018
Michael Gottlieb M, et al. - Via performing a systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers investigated the sensitivity and specificity of transtracheal ultrasonography for the verification of endotracheal tube location. they identified 17 studies (n=1,595 patients) for this systematic review. Outcomes support that transtracheal sonography is rapid to perform and has an acceptable degree of sensitivity and specificity for the confirmation of endotracheal intubation. Hence they recommend considering transtracheal sonography when quantitative capnography is unavailable or unreliable.
