Ultra-low-dose CT detects synovitis in patients with suspected rheumatoid arthritis
Annals of Rheumatic Diseases Dec 21, 2018
Diekhoff T, et al. - Researchers assessed 36 cases underwent ultra-low-dose CT (ULD-CT) and MRI of the hand with weight-adapted intravenous contrast administration to determine the feasibility and the diagnostic accuracy of contrast-enhanced ULD-CT for the depiction of inflammatory soft-tissue changes eg, synovitis, tenosynovitis, and peritendonitis in participants with arthritis of the hand using the Rheumatoid Arthritis MRI Score (RAMRIS). They observed synovitis in MRI (all cases) with 69% sensitivity on the patient level and 65% on the joint level with 87% specificity with the advantage that ULD-CT detected more differential diagnoses than MRI.
