Van Den Bosch T, Verbakel JY, Valentin L, et al. - Using the International Endometrial Tumor Analysis (IETA) terminology, researchers here documented the ultrasound features of different endometrial and other intracavitary pathologies in pre‐ and postmenopausal women presenting with abnormal uterine bleeding. They conducted a prospective observational multicenter study of 2,856 consecutive women presenting with abnormal uterine bleeding. Of these women, 843 (38.0%) were postmenopausal. Seven hundred fifty-one (33.9%) women were diagnosed with endometrial polyps, 223 (10.1%) with intracavitary leiomyomas and 137 (6.2%) with endometrial cancer. Endometrial cancer appeared unlikely in correlation with the detection of some easy‐to‐assess IETA features (ie, endometrial thickness < 3 mm, three‐layer pattern, linear midline and single vessel without branching).
