Two-year outcomes of transcatheter compared to surgical aortic valve replacement in “minimal-risk” patients lacking EuroSCORE comorbidities (from the TAVIK registry)
The American Journal of Cardiology Mar 27, 2018
Schymik G, et al. - A comparison of the outcomes of transcatheter (TAVI) to surgical (SAVR) aortic valve replacement was carried out in an elderly but non-frail, minimally comorbid population. TAVI, relative to SAVR, appeared to provide similar short-term outcomes, with access-specific complications, in elderly, low-risk, minimally comorbid patients. Poorer mid-term survival remains a concern, while the findings point towards the potential for more liberal use of TAVI in minimal-risk patients.
