Two-year cortical and trabecular bone loss in CKD-5D: Biochemical and clinical predictors

Malluche HH, et al. - This article was composed with the goal to measure changes in bone mineral density (BMD). It was concluded that the severe cortical bone loss was seen at the hip best recognized by quantitative computed tomography (QCT). Patients with shorter dialysis vintage and less pre-existing bone loss lost more bone, while treatment with CNS-acting antihypertensives was protective. For the bone loss, BSAP and sclerostin were the useful markers.
