Two-stage hepatectomy vs one-stage major hepatectomy with contralateral resection or ablation for advanced bilobar colorectal liver metastases
Journal of the American College of Surgeons Feb 21, 2018
Mizuno T, et al. - The authors aimed at defining the optimal surgical approach for advanced bilobar colorectal liver metastases (CLM) requiring right hemihepatectomy by comparing short-term and long-term outcomes following two-stage hepatectomy (TSH) and one-stage hepatectomy (OSH) with contralateral resection or radiofrequency ablation (RFA). Findings revealed that in comparison to OSH, TSH was associated with fewer complications in patients with advanced bilobar CLM. Both TSH in intention-to-treat analysis and completed TSH in as-treated analysis were observed to be correlated with better overall survival.
