Two-dimensional vs 3-dimensional comparison of alveolar bone over maxillary incisors with A-point as a reference
American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics Dec 12, 2017
Kula TJ, et al. - The researchers compared bone thickness over the most forward maxillary incisor (MFMI) in 2-dimensional (2D) vs 3-dimensional (3D) with A-point as a reference. They also compared bone thickness and inclination of each maxillary incisor in 3D. Compared with 3D evaluations, evaluation of 2D cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) derivations could cause overestimation of alveolar bone buccal to the maxillary incisor root apices. As per findings, the anterior nasal spine obscured bone measurements over the maxillary incisors in 2 dimensions.
