Twelve-year incidence of retinal vein occlusion and its trend in Korea
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Oct 15, 2020
Park JY, Park SJ, Byun SJ, et al. - Utilizing the Korean national health claims database from 2002 to 2015, researchers conducted this nationwide population-based retrospective study to estimate the 12-year incidence and trends of clinically diagnosed retinal vein occlusion (RVO) in Korea. Two hundred forty thousand four hundred ninety-five incident RVO cases have been identified. Data reported that the average incidence rate was 48.09. RVO is an elderly illness that peaks in the late 70s and occurs more in females than in males. In Korea, the incidence of RVO increased from 2004 to 2015 among the population aged 70 years or older, while no trend in RVO incidence rates was observed among those aged less than 70 years.
