Turbinate loss from non-inflammatory sinonasal surgery does not correlate with poor sinonasal function
American Journal of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Medicine and Surgery Nov 29, 2019
Wong EH, Orgain CA, Sansoni ER, et al. - Researchers investigated how turbinate resection influences self-reported sinonasal function following endoscopic tumor or skull base surgery. They assessed a retrospective case series of 294 postsurgical patients who were managed for non-inflammatory sinus disease via performing tumor resection or endoscopic skull base reconstruction. In these patients, there appeared no correlation of turbinate resection with poorer postoperative nasal obstruction, sinonasal function nor sleep quality. Allergy and Draf3 were seen to improve the postoperative global nasal function score.
