Turbinate loss from non-inflammatory sinonasal surgery does not correlate with poor sinonasal function
American Journal of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Medicine and Surgery Oct 28, 2019
Wong EH, Orgain CA, Sansoni ER, et al. - In this retrospective case series, researchers examined the effect of turbinate resection on self-reported sinonasal function following endoscopic tumor or skull base surgery. This investigation was conducted on consecutive postsurgical patients after management for non-inflammatory sinus disease like tumor resection or endoscopic skull base reconstruction. The study sample consisted of 294 patients (aged 52.9 ± 17.6 years). For patients with non-inflammatory sinus disease surgery, turbinate resection was not associated with worse postoperative nasal obstruction, sinonasal function or quality of sleep.
